Dr Danielle McCarthy and Professor Jayne Woodside from Queen’s University Belfast, have been leading research in regions of social disadvantage in Northern Ireland. The Food Possibilities Approach has been designed to enable the sustainable, scalable implementation of their research findings.

Dr Danielle McCarthy

Dr Danielle McCarthy, Senior Lecturer in Applied Nutrition and Bio-Entrepreneurship at Queen’s University Belfast and Co-Founder of Nutrition Talent, brings 20 years experience applying nutrition science in multiple contexts with formed positions including Head of Nutrition at Sainsbury’s and Principal Scientist of GSK.

Professor Jayne Woodside

Professor Jayne Woodside is an internationally recognised public health expert and Professor of Human Nutrition within the Centre for Public Health at Queen’s University Belfast and Deputy Director of the Institute for Global Food Security. Her widely published research in the nutrition field, with over 180 original publications, is focused on how diet and lifestyle affects chronic disease risk.
